Cleaning, disinfection, sanitary break and the 25-point farm health audit
Level 9 taught you the science of cleaning and disinfection: organic matter first, the families of disinfectants, contact time, the order of the fifteen steps. The farm health technician inherits all of that and adds two things that only a farm with several houses requires: organising the sanitary breaks of three staggered houses without a house under cleaning contaminating a house in production, and checking, through a numbered audit, that the whole farm holds, not only the house that has just been washed. This lesson gives the schedule of the breaks at farm scale, the check before placement, and the 25-point health audit grid, scored out of 50, which you will apply to your own farm in the next lesson.

- ✓Plan the cleaning, disinfection and sanitary break of three staggered houses without contaminating the houses in production
- ✓Set and respect the length of the sanitary break validated by the veterinarian and check the house before placement
- ✓Apply the 25-point health audit grid and calculate the farm score
- ✓Read the score, spot the weak points and prepare the correction plan

- The check before placement
- The health audit: why a score
- Scoring, calculating, reading the score
- Going further
- •On several houses, the sanitary break is a risky worksite: litter and washing water far from the full houses, separate workers, never on the day of a placement; 63-day cycle (42 of flock, 7 of worksite, 14 of dry break minimum, 21 on the farm); about 17 worksites per year for three houses.
- •The length of the break is set by the veterinarian (benchmark: 14 days minimum after disinfection, house dry, longer after an alert) and is decided before ordering the chicks.
- •Check at D-3 with the hand: surfaces to the finger, water line connector dismantled (biofilm), dryness, mesh, equipment, real length, documents; a house that fails does not receive chicks.
- •Quarterly health audit: 25 points in five chapters (entrances and zones, houses and surroundings, water and feed, animals and monitoring, registers and documents), scored 0, 1 or 2, total out of 50; write what was seen, not "correct".
- •Reading: 45-50 under control, 35-44 correct with weaknesses, 25-34 vulnerable, under 25 exposed; the zeros are corrected first; an audit without a correction plan is the list of what is going to happen.
