Departures from the Agnibilékrou hatchery on Monday and Thursday at 10 pm, arrival in Yopougon on Tuesday and Friday from 6 am. Order by WhatsApp on +225 07 07 72 78 67.

Our 3 coloured broiler breeds

The name you use at the market and the official NEXTEKCI name often refer to the same chick. Here is the correspondence, in full transparency.

Red broiler

Also called ‘red chicken’

These are our broiler chicks with red/russet plumage. They belong to the same family of coloured broilers as the breeds sought under the names Sasso, Redbro or ColorYield. Hardy and well suited to the Ivorian tropical climate, they give firm meat that is highly valued on the local market.

Barred grey

Often called ‘black broiler’

What many customers call ‘black broiler chick’ corresponds at NEXTEKCI to the barred grey: dark barred plumage, comparable to what is sought under the name ‘Kuroiler’. An improved traditional breed, perfect for semi-free-range rearing and backyard flocks.

Hybrid

Known as ‘improved local hybrid’

The NEXTEKCI hybrid is a mix of colours, which customers also call ‘improved local hybrid’ or ‘improved hybrid’. Available in red, barred grey or mixed, it combines decent growth and robustness: an excellent compromise for many farms.

Important: NEXTEKCI does not sell official ‘Sasso’ or ‘Kuroiler’ breeds. Our coloured chicks belong to the same family of coloured broilers as these breeds. See the details on the Sasso, Kuroiler: which equivalents? page

Why choose coloured broilers?

Hardiness, local market demand and flexible rearing: the three great strengths of coloured chicken in Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast).

Tropical hardiness

Coloured broilers are known to be hardier than the white broiler: they cope better with the heat and the variable rearing conditions of Côte d'Ivoire.

In high demand on the local market

Coloured chicken, firm and tasty, is sought after by Ivorian consumers, particularly for festive occasions and live sales at markets.

Suited to several rearing systems

Intensive, semi-free-range or backyard: red, barred grey and hybrid adapt to simple buildings and to less strict rearing practices.
