The farm health plan, written with the veterinarian: zones, flows, calendar, responsibilities
The level 9 biosecurity plan protected one house. The farm health plan does more: it organises the health of the whole operation, with its three houses of different ages, its staff, deliveries and pick-ups, and it is written by two hands, those of the health technician and those of the veterinarian of the area. It is the only document in which the veterinarian says, in advance and in writing, what he expects from the farm, how often he comes, and who does what when a figure goes wrong. This lesson teaches you to build it chapter by chapter, on the three-house farm, and to keep it alive instead of letting it sleep in a drawer.

- Going further
- •The farm health plan includes the biosecurity plan and adds age management, the veterinarian’s calendar, the prevention programme decided by him and the responsibilities; it is co-signed by the veterinarian of the area.
- •Three zones, and the green zone divided into one sub-zone per house, each with its boots, colour, equipment and footbaths; houses at least 20 m apart, the youngest upwind, pit 60 m downwind.
- •Two flow rules: a clean flow never crosses a dirty flow; nothing goes from an older house to a younger one.
- •Routine visits at five moments of each flock; with three staggered flocks, about one visit every two weeks, each prepared with a list per house.
- •Eight chapters, a responsible-checker-decider table, the technician’s right to call written down, and three appointments to keep the plan alive: signed reading, Saturday audit, dated revision.
