Reading a breed technical sheet and a publication: sorting true from false
A farmer arrives with his strain's technical sheet: "Look, at 42 days they should weigh 3 kg, mine weigh 2.1: I was sold bad chicks." Another shows a publication on his phone: "This additive increases weight by 12%, I am going to buy it." In both cases the document may be accurate, and the conclusion is wrong, because neither has read the conditions written in small print: the temperature, the density, the feed, the number of birds in the trial, who paid for the study. The expert knows how to read these documents the way one reads a contract: first the assumptions, then the figures. This lesson teaches you to do it, with two guided readings.
