Field exercise: draw your farm's biosecurity plan (zones, entrances, flows)
You have learned the zones, the flows, the airlock, the footbath, the quarantine, the pests. Now you go out with a sheet of paper, a three-colour pencil and a tape measure, and you draw your farm as it is, not as it should be. The drawing will bring out what the eye no longer sees from walking past it: the litter heap five metres from the house, the motorbike parked against the wall, the watchman's backyard coop. At the end you will have chapter 1 of your biosecurity plan and a decision sheet to present to the owner. Allow two hours, technician and owner together.
