Selling Eggs in Côte d'Ivoire: Where to Start?

Trays of 30, local clientele, regularity: how to structure the sale of your eggs in Côte d'Ivoire, from the first tray to loyal customers.

Selling Eggs in Côte d'Ivoire: Where to Start?

Producing eggs is one thing; selling them regularly and in the right place is another. Many Ivorian poultry farmers focus on the technique and discover the commercial aspect once the first trays are filled. Here’s how to structure the sale from the outset.

The Reference Format: The Tray of 30

In the Ivorian market, table eggs are primarily sold in trays of 30 — this is the format handled by shopkeepers, restaurateurs, and resellers — as well as in smaller packaging for retail sale. Organise your production around this standard: count your daily outputs in trays, store them away from heat and sunlight, and handle them with care. A broken tray means lost profit.

Start with the Local Clientele

Before dreaming of large markets, look around the farm: local shops, coffee kiosks, bakeries, restaurants, canteens, neighbours. This local clientele has two advantages: it reduces your transport costs and buys every week. Regularity is your best sales argument — a customer who knows that your trays arrive every week on the same day will remain loyal to you.

Quality is Visible, Freshness is Proven

A clean, uncracked egg of consistent size sells better and negotiates better. Size consistency starts with the chick: the NEXTEKCI brown layer is selected for a high laying rate and commercial-sized eggs. In terms of freshness, quick stock rotation is your ally: sell in the order of laying and do not let the trays sit idle.

Think Production in Terms of Sales

The right reasoning goes from the market to the poultry house, not the other way around: estimate how many trays your area can absorb each week, then size your flock accordingly. It is better to have a small flock where all production sells than a large flock where eggs accumulate. You can always expand with a second flock of layers once the clientele is established.
