This is the first question our WhatsApp advisors receive: "I want broiler chicks, but which ones?" At NEXTEKCI, a hatchery established in Agnibilékrou since 2006, the broiler range is divided into two main families: white broiler and coloured broiler. Making the right choice means aligning the breed with your project, your building, and your market.
The white broiler: speed for short cycles
The NEXTEKCI white broiler is a Cobb 500 type chick, selected for its exceptional growth rate and excellent feed conversion ratio. In practical terms, it converts feed into meat more efficiently, making it the benchmark choice for intensive commercial farming in short cycles.
It requires, in return, more rigorous management: well-ventilated building, controlled heat, monitored feeding. This is the recommended breed if your goal is a structured commercial farming operation, with a regular succession of flocks.
The coloured broiler: hardiness and local market
"Coloured broiler" encompasses broiler chicks with coloured plumage, as opposed to industrial white broiler. At NEXTEKCI, it includes three breeds:
- Premium red broiler: robust, very well adapted to the Ivorian tropical climate, with superior meat quality. This is the breed that many farmers seek under the names "Sasso" or "red chicken".
- Premium barred grey: improved traditional breed with dark plumage, referred to as "black broiler" by some farmers. Perfect for semi-free range farming and backyard poultry.
- Premium hybrid: the balance between productivity and hardiness, available in red, barred grey, or a mix of colours. This is the famous "improved local hybrid".
These breeds are more forgiving of difficult conditions, and their firm meat is highly valued in the local market.
Three questions to decide
What is your commercial objective?
Short cycles and volume: white broiler. Free-range chicken valued in the local market: red, barred grey, or hybrid.
What are your farming conditions?
Well-equipped closed building: the white broiler expresses its full potential. Semi-free range, backyard, or difficult climate: the coloured broiler is more tolerant.
What is your level of experience?
For beginners, NEXTEKCI also recommends the white cockerel (economic option) or the premium hybrid, balanced between performance and hardiness. Our team provides free advice for each project via WhatsApp.
Identical starting quality for all breeds
Regardless of the chosen family, all NEXTEKCI chicks come from the same hatchery in Agnibilékrou with the same guarantees: selected breeders, manual sorting post-hatching, starter feed from birth, and transport in ventilated boxes of 50 chicks with complete identification.
Departures take place every Monday and Thursday at 10 PM, arriving in Abidjan (Yopougon) on Tuesday and Friday by 6 AM. Remember to pre-order at least 15 days before departure, and 3 to 4 weeks during peak demand periods.
In summary
There is no "best" breed in absolute terms: there is the breed suited to your project. The white broiler for performance in intensive farming, the coloured broiler for hardiness and local valorisation.
