Preventing risk: fire, theft, flooding, power failure, and the emergency plan

A house fire lasts twenty minutes; a night theft lasts an hour; a flood lasts a night. In all three cases, what makes the difference is not what you do during, but what you did before: where the extinguisher is, who has the key, where the watchman sleeps, where the water flows. This lesson teaches you to look at your farm the way a firefighter, a thief and a flood would look at it, to remove the causes one by one, and to write the emergency plan that everyone knows, posted, with the numbers and the actions of the first ten minutes.
