Natural ventilation: orientation, 8 m width, height, roof overhang, curtains
An open-sided house has neither air conditioning nor extractor fans: the wind and the heat itself must move the air. That only happens if the house is well oriented, not too wide, high enough, and if its curtains are handled intelligently. Many heat losses in Côte d’Ivoire come from a house built too wide, too low, or facing the wrong way: defects paid for at every flock for twenty years. This lesson gives the construction and adjustment rules.
